Event Details

Does your organisation need advice on ICT?  Are you unsure how to manage or plan your technology?  To help London-based small and medium sized third sector organisations, Lasa is organising its first ever Technology Surgery Day.

Lasa has gathered together eight eminent “surgeons” to give you exclusive one to one advice and information on a wide range of technology issues ranging from websites, open source software, fundraising, the CTX software and hardware donation programme, networks, security and social media. If you have general technology queries then you can go through our triage and we’ll hook you up with the most appropriate adviser.  We’ll also be giving out copies of the new Lasa ICT Handbook to help you record all the important details of your ICT systems.

Our surgeries:

It's simple.  We have 8 surgeons each offering four one to one workshops throughout the afternoon.  To book your place simply choose a surgery and select the ticket for your preferred time slot (A, B, C or D) from the choices below. Each surgery is 45 minutes long.  You can book for different surgeries, however places are reserved on a first come, first served basis. Questions to Miles Maier at Lasa mmaier@lasa.org.uk or telephone 020 7426 4473.

1. Websites, Google, Wordpress: Jason King will answer questions on getting the most out of your website, improving your ranking in Google searches and using Wordpress to set up a website.

2. Technology planning and support: If you need advice on managing and planning your organisation's technology, Blue Lizard's Esther Regenwetter will be on hand to answer your questions.

3. Free and Open Source software:   If you need in-depth advice on using open source software, like the Ubuntu operating system, book with Fossbox's Paula Graham.

4. Databases (CRM): Chosing the right contact management (CRM) database can be confusing.  Michael McAndrew is a civiCRM specialist and wil provide advice and guidance to set you on the right path for contact databases.

5. Social media and web accessibility: If your organisation is thinking about using social media - like Facebook, Twitter or ning - for its communications, or you're concerned about making your website accessible to all, book with Laura Whitehead of Popokatea or Paul Webster of NAVCA.

6. CTX donation programme: Save money on products by Microsoft, CISCO and many others by taking advantage of the CTXchange donation programme. Richard Cooper of CTT will be available with advice on eligibility and how to apply.

7. Networks, wireless and information security:  If you want to know more about keeping your networks safe and secure, put your questions to networks and wireless expert Maher Ugailly of Superhighways.

8. Funding technology projects: Lasa's Miles Maier will answer your questions on putting together funding bids for technology projects.
